Out of the Blue is open!

In this post, go behind the scenes of the installation process at of Out of Blue - Celebrating the work of Designers Guild and find out what to expect when you visit this wonderful show now in The Gallery and City Space at The Arc, Winchester.

Over the last week, we've seen a complete transformation of the gallery spaces into an incredibly bright and colourful environment! This stunning exhibition once again shows us how fortunate we are to have a flexible and varied gallery space in Winchester. We are grateful to Tricia Guild and her team for the energy and passion they have brought during the installation process. It has been a privilege seeing this team of passionate designers working together in the making of this exhibition.

Don't miss the atrium banners as you head into City Space!

The transformation began in the atrium, with colourful banners overseeing the City Space display sets and our technician used a scissor lift to reach these heights. The City Space gallery features bespoke display sets, custom made outside of the usual touring exhibition content for Out of the Blue. The Gallery features more stunning display sets, with many wonderful items such as exquisite textiles, furniture, books, colours, and more details to discover.

Travellers’ tales: Venetian

There are 14 display sets in all, charting the history of Designers Guild design, starting with a collaboration with Kaffe Fassett, to the latest Essentials range. Many of the items on display are from the archive, with some no longer in production. Several of the fabrics were reproduced specifically for the exhibition.

Make sure to not miss Moody Blooms: Designing with Nature by Tricia Guild, co-authored by James Merrell. In this book, Tricia shares her passion for flowers, leaves, and stems, exploring how nature can be as important as the furnishings we choose for enhancing a room’s mood and atmosphere.

Spending time with the exhibition and the Designers Guild team has led us to reflect on the longevity of this brand, offering unending guidance and inspiration and how Tricia Guild’s work is a testament that design can give you the confidence to curate your own space, make it your own and find your own identity in design.

Out of the Blue: Celebrating the work of Designers Guild is now at City Space and The Gallery until 29 August 2022. Tickets are available for sale online or visit our Box Office at The Arc, Winchester.
